INTERNATIONAL ART, INTEGRITY AND INSIGHTS

DECLARATIONS IN THE DIASPORA

Earlier this year, I published a blog post about my creative intentions for 2016.  One was top secret and still is and it will be revealed in due time…I promise!  The other two were about publishing an art book and taking a group of artists to Ghana with me this December.  I am happy to report that things are on track for both of those to happen.

Speaking of promises…the last time I was in Ghana, back in 2013,  I made a promise to the youth in my art workshop that I would bring other artists on my return trip.  Three years later, I am of woman of my word.

December 7th through the 17th, I am traveling to Ghana, West Africa with two other artists to teach art and to present the International Public Art Quote Book (IPAQ Book) to the students at The People's School for Positive Education. I am looking for some "ARTicipants" to contribute positive words and inspiring quotes at various levels. Please consider being a part of this international gift of love.  Let’s face it, we all could benefit from a serious group hug right about now.  What makes the best hug?  Well, art of course!

ABOUT THE IPAQ BOOK

This is a one-of-a-kind art book intended to inspire the youth we teach in Ghana to lead bold, colorful and amazing lives.  It will have beautiful poetry from Kamari Bright, larger than life painted images from Aramis Hamer, some Afro Jazz Fine Art from yours truly, and magical uplifting quotes from you!

It will take a village to make this international public art mission a reality.  I will need your help!

  • Please share this post and the project link bit.ly/IPAQBookGo with your entire network.

  • Look out for live events and attend if you can like the Seattle kickoff event.

ART INSIGHTS

Making promises to kids is serious business and is perhaps, the key to keeping one’s word.  I cannot wait to see their smiling faces.  I am learning that art and accountability are cousins.  It is one thing to say, yes, I will return to this amazing country and quite another to say yes, I will return plus bring my artist friends along for an epic art collaboration.  In the end, one yields the sweetest of fruit in the service of others.  Let the yummy adventure begin!
